Some Specific Births, Marriages and Deaths from the GRO
Firth Hemingway
In the Autumn 2005 Hemingway & variants in the article "Fatal Larking at Batley", I speculated that Firth Hemingway as described in the 1871 census at Upper Carr was the son of Abraham and Sarah Ann (Buckley) Hemingway and included this in the tree in the centre spread. As a couple of subscribers pointed out, this is in fact incorrect - Firth is the illegitimate son of Susannah Hemingway (sister of the above Abraham). To the best of my knowledge, we do not know who was the father of Firth. To help provide clarity, I obtained the birth and death certificates for Firth Hemingway and extracts from these are shown below.
