Sibill WHITLEY of Shibden Hall  :  1644

 

In the name of God Amen, the twenty-third Aprill AD 1644 and in the twentieth years of Charles Kinge of England et al, I Sibill Whitley of Shibden Hall in Southowram in the countie of Yorke, widow, doe make this my last will & testament in manner and forme followinge , ffirst and principally I commend and comitt my Soule into the handes of Almighty God in full assurance of his mercy in the pardon and forgiveness of all my sins & life Eternall through Jesus Christ and my body I comitt to the earth from whence it came.

And as for the disposition of such goodes, chattels, cattell, credits and debts as Almighty God hath of bounteous liberality given me, I doe hereby publish and declare my full will and minde in that behalfe as followeth

It is my will and minde that all my such debts as I shall happene to owe to any person, or persons of right and conscience att the time of my decease shall be truly discharged and paid by me executor hereafter named and that my funeral expenses be deducted out of my whole goods and after my debts and funeral expenses deducted I give as followeth

Impris I give to my brother John Smith of Horton twenty poundes

Item I give to Joseph Lister ten poundes

Item to his daughter Elisabeth Lister five poundes

Item to my sister Grace Hopkinson twentie poundes

Item to John Hopkinson ten poundes

Item To my sister Phebe Cooke twentie poundes

Item to my sister Susannah Lister ten poundes

Item to Martha Deane wife of Samuell Deane of Ovenden ten poundes

Item to Jane Dautrie(?) wife of Richard Dautrie(?) twentie poundes

Item to my sister Mary FFarnell five poundes

Item to Mary Whitley daughter off Michael Whitley of Sourbie ffortie shillings

Item to John Lister of Upper Brea in Northowram two hundred poundes

Item to Moses Jenkin of London two hundred and fifty poundes

Item to Samuel Lister and Thomas Lister of Shibden Hall in Southowram twentie poundes

Item to Joseph Lister of Northowram ten poundes

Item to his sonne Joseph Lister ten poundes

Item to Edmund Rylor ten shillings

Item to Peter Wriglesworth ten shillings, to William Pollard ten shillings

Item to Mercy Otes ffortie shillings

All the rest and remainder of my goods, chattels, cattell, credits and debts I doe give, devise and bequeath unto my lovinge cousin Thomas Lister of Shibden Hall in Southowram to his owne use and behoofe

And I doe make, constitute and appoint the said Thomas Lister sole executor of this my last will & testament.

And I request my lovinge cousin John Lister and Moses Jenkin to be my overseers of the same
